Bassarov hears a lot of noise in his room. He wakes up and looks around.
"I am starting to feel better. I am not sure if I am ready to go or not, but I could try..." Bassarov says as he sits up in his bed. He has wasted too much time.

"Go where? We can't go anywhere. Sakari and Cambridge are gone, and we have nothing to do except to ge to Germany. Moreover, im pooped!"
I try to sit up, but it hurts a bit.
"Valodya, what we really need to do is to get our party to have a meeting, where we need to elect new party leadership. That is what we need to do, if anything. After Germany, of course..."

"That is a good idea. Maybe after Germany we can work on that. Another meeting would be good anyway, since some things in the world have changed since our last meeting." Bassarov replies.
"Sakari and Cambridge are probably off on a walk. They sometimes go off, so I am sure they're around."

"Sure, whatever, I hope they are. Has the bill been taken care of too? I bet Sakari has, he always manages too..."
I worry, wondering what trouble Sakari might have gotten himself into this time.
"I'm just worried about Cambridge. YOu don't think I upset hir too much, do you? I mean, I really shouldn't have said what I said, but it was like I couldn't help it. I wonder if it truely is a safe alternative to morphine, hu?"

"I don't think you upset anyone, you are a pretty agreeable guy." Bassarov replies. He asks the nurse to get him a copy of the bill and indeed it was paid off last night.
"You're right Lysander, someone did pay the bill. Sakari must have won some money again."

"You know, I have never really seen him play. I bet that would be a sight to see indeed."
"So, you were the one that wanted to leave. What did you plan on doing? Do you think we sould travel to Germany now?"

"We should at least leave the hospital now. I don't want to build up a more expensive bill." Bassarov replies.
"We could all go to lunch, wait for Sakari and Cambridge, and then leave for Germany."

It takes me a few hours to round up all of my friends, but I do. I find all of my college socialist friends and bring them back to Julia's apartment so they can meet Alejos.
"Sorry that it took me so long Alejos, but they are all here."
I lead about a dozen students into the living room. Julia gets busy bringing them drinks and snacks.
"We are a small group like I said, but there are other socialists in other cities. These are just the ones that live here in Bogota."
I sit down next to Julia and introduce them one by one.

"I do not know... I'm kinda scared about eating, as it is. I will come, but I am neither hungry nor calm. Maybe we should just buy some body armor or something before we get there, hu?"

"Getting shot like that was a freak incident, Lysander. It is very uncommon to get shot in broad daylight in a crowded place. Now that we have, the chances that it will happen again are null. It's like riding a horse. If you fall off, you are supposed to get on again. Or...Shark cage diving... you know how it goes."
