"I was born there, but I grew up in America." Masha explained. She had never really kept her past a secret. She didn't really keep a lot of things a secret. She had accepted the fact that she was adopted long ago.
"I can tell you are, though. Where in Russia are you from?" Masha asked with a kind smile. She normally didn't pry too much into others business, but she was curious about Valodya.

"I come from a city called Petrozavodsk which is in Karelia and not too distant from the Finnish border. It is on lake Onega." He explains. He is not sure if any of this will have much meaning to her, but he explains it anyway.
He is a little disappointed that she is an American, but doesn't show it. He has nothing against America, but of course, their imperialism, pop culture, individualism, and greed.
"So what brings you to Berlin?"

"I'm on an expedition." Masha replied, but she was teasing...A little. She had come with a few others from her church to visit a couple of the churches here. Though, they were taking the day to explore the city. She, on the other hand, would rather get caught up with some work she needed to get done for her classes.
"What brings you to Germany?" Masha asked. She wondered if he was living here, or merely visiting like her. Perhaps he still lived in Russia, she thought.

"Well I am ..a member of an international socialist group. And some of us are here to help out our German comrades with the political situation here." He explains.
"For the past week or so, there has been a power stuggle. A group of German fascists tried to take power, though, now the situation seems to be under control."

Masha looked at him with a raised eyebrow. He was a socialist too? She listened to what he said with new interest. They shared something in common.
"I'm glad to hear that. I, too, am a socialist. And a feminist." Masha added.

"You should hang out with us. We are really desperate for female comrades..." He blurts out.
"I mean. Right now there are three of us traveling together. Erich, Lysander, and myself. I am sure as a woman and a feminist you would have a lot of offer to our small group. If you aren't busy, the four of us should go out and talk."

Masha smiled when he suggested they get together and talk. She liked expressing her ideas and thought it would be a good idea. As long as she had a little time to visit with the others in her church group, she would be fine.
"That would be nice. Where are the others right now?" Masha asked, glancing around but not really looking for them. She figured they would have joined her and Valodya already if they were around.

"Lysander went to find his new...girl friend or whatever she is. Erich, I have no idea. I haven't seen him since I arrived in Berlin. He was in Munich with me, took the train here before me, but we haven't met up yet. So I suppose it is just me right now. I could leave a note at the desk for them to meet us if you would rather not wait."

"I didn't have a lot planned for now. Just was going to get caught up on a few things." Masha told him with a friendly smile. She had been a little deprived of younger company for a few days. Most of those in her group were at least forty.
"What had you planned to do while you waited for them? Just sit here?" Masha asked, glancing around. She didn't particularly like being idle, so she often got restless when there was nothing for her to do.

"Actually I think I see Lysander." Bassarov says as he looks at the salon. "Come on." He touches her shoulder as he gets up. He walks over to the salon and sees Lysander with Aleksandra. "Oh there you are Lysander. This is Masha. She is a socialist and we were thinking of going out and talking."

As we leave the building a half a dozen MPs help us walk the prisoners into a single step van. Zinner's attention is obviously focused on Rommell, but mine is on the woman. Her behavior and the look in her eyes has already given me an impression, and it's one I don't like... Finally the last prisoner climbs aboard and the door is shut behind them. I walk up to Zinner and say "Well that went a lot better than it might have..."

"Sure we can go out Lysander."
"Do you like my hair? I just got in highlighted."
I pay for the highlights and give Lysander a kiss on the cheek.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, too." Masha said, politely. She glanced at Valodya. It seemed as if Lystander wasn't really that interested. She looked back at him and smiled, giving a nod in the direction of his girlfriend (of sorts?).
