"Valodya... Vossya... Listen to me very carefully." Sakari says, lowering his head, and looks into his eyes seriously, raising one eyebrow for effect.
"...You don't plan on marrying her... Or even being in a relationship with her... Yet, you want to go back to Russia, and help her raise this child..." I rest my hand on his shoulder. "...Can you see where you may be leading her on..?" I say, then take my hand off his shoulder.
"What I would do is distance myself as far away from this situation as possible. Probably not a good thing to do for Selja, but hey, it'll make her stronger in the end. She needs to become more independent anyways, right? I mean, she's head over heels in love with someone who she has nothing in common with. Doesn't that strike you as odd or, perhaps a little creepy..?"

"I always thought she was a little too male dependant. It's like, she doesn't know who she is without me. She has followed me all over the world even though I made it clear I don't love her. I don't know. I am not like you, I can't just run away from things. I would like to, but where would I go?"
"I can't just leave her alone. It would be cruel and I am not that horrible a person."
"There is...what Helene suggested. That she is lying. Helene told me that I am naive and that this might be a ploy. She did suddenly announce this when she learned we had been together."
"Which is yet another annoying thing. Now, she told me that she had experimented with Cambridge, and here she becomes furious and disgusted about us?"

After dressing up in my sister's room, I head into club Kalavela, which is where I spend most of my nights off. I see Lemm, whom I feel the urge to prepare myself before I see him. I sit down at the bar, and order a white Russian. I turn to my right, and notice someone who seems very out of place.
"Hello stranger, you don't seem to be enjoying yourself. You someone's fifth wheel?" I ask.

"Man, she's so manipulating you..." Sakari says, shaking his head.
"Don't think of it as being an asshole, think of it as doing her a favor. It'll be tough love. It's like that old, ah, parable... Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day... You keep giving Selja fish, but she doesn't know how to fish herself. She needs to become more self reliant." I reply, somewhat impressed with myself for actually making sense.

"I'll consider it. Thanks for listening. It helps." Bassarov replies. He sighs and rubs his temple.
"I need to not think about this for a while. It won't change anything. I'll figure things out, but no use agonizing over it right now."

I turn my head, a little baffled to hear someone talking to me that isn't Lemmenkainen. Though I don't understand a word she said because I don't speak Finnish.
"I ah, sorry, I don't actually... Speak, Finnish..." I say in Russian, and take another swig of my vodka.
"I don't suppose you speak Russian, do you?" I ask her, with an already disappointed tone attached to my voice. I don't really feel like speaking in English, so I stick to Russian.

"Cheerio." Sakari says, finally, nodding his head, and pats Valodya on the back.
"Sorry if I sounded a little insensitive or anything, I just don't see this as a healthy situation, any way you spin it. Don't burn yourself out on it." I say, then nod my head again.
"You wanna play tetris?"

"Sure, and thanks. You're a good friend, Sakari." Bassarov says and takes a nintendo controller.

I smile, and nod my head.
"I asked you if you were someone's fifth wheel." I repeat in Russian.

Kaschei returns home late, but is in a pleasant mood. It was a good day. Closer ties to Gosprom has improved his mood, as has the return to Zhar. He is hardly upset at all at Maria when he goes up to their bedroom. "Where were you?" He asks her, but not in an accusatory tone. He goes to the restroom and washes his face and brushes his teeth. He puts his shirt in the hamper and sits down on the bed.

I was so certain that she didn't speak any Russian, that I end up choking on my drink when she replies in Russian. I cough, spilling a good deal of my drink on the bar, then wipe my mouth with my sleeve.
"Ah, um... Ah hah... I actually, ah... ha ha..." I begin to clean up my mess with the various bar napkins that are laying around.
"I ah... I'm more like someone's second wheel. I just made friends with Lemmenkainen over there-" I point to Lemmenkainen out on the dance floor, who seems to be having a hilariously good time. "And he's waiting for a Stefanii." I reply.
"Wow, you really speak Russian..."

By this time, Maria has already taken measures to make sure she didn't reek of pot, that is, changed her clothes, and taken a shower. She still feels a little buzzed after being around a room full of pot smoke, but is in control of herself. As she sits on the corner of the bed, she eyes Kaschei, and detects a strangely calm aura from him.
"I went out with Pavel." She replies, quietly, and looks down. "He needed to get his dog from in town, and doesn't have a license... I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I didn't think I'd be gone as long as I was..." She says, with an apologetic, and tone in her voice.

I laugh.
"You're here with Lemm?" I ask incredulously. "Ah it is a small world..." I wonder how Lemm ended up hanging out with a Russian, when he often rants to me about how much he hates Russians.
"I guess that'd make you a third wheel then, wouldn't it? I'm Stefanii." I say, then smile, nod my head, and extend my hand.

"Ah, you went out with Pavel. I enjoy his company. If he is back, I will make a point of visiting him later tonight." Kaschei replies to her, and for some reason does not feel threatened by Pavel. Pavel seems too afraid of Kaschei to try anything with his wife. "I had a good day at work today. Some good things happened." He says, but decides not to go into any detail with her. He finishes undressing and gets under the covers. "It isn't often that I have a good day."

I shake her hand, and notice that she has a pleasant, but firm handshake. When she does this, I also notice that she has some more, masculine, features as well.
"My name's Mischa. Nice to meet you Stefanii." I reply. I'm not as shocked about her knowing Lemmenkainen as I was about her being able to speak Russian.
"So you called him Lemm..? That's cute, are you two like, seeing each other, then?" I ask, feeling somewhat socially awkward by the whole situation.
