I am near the perimeter of the event interviewing a shop owner when I see a brief flash, and am blown over by the shock wave a minute later, and knocked out cold instantly. Within the hour I am moved to a hospital, into a room with Cambridge and two other protesters, both of whose injuries are worse than mine...

I run into the command center when sattelite survellance confirms a low-yield nuclear detonation at the exact location of the G-8 summit. Without bothering to call Washington I raise our nuclear alert level to DEFCON-2, and order all the strategic bombers into the air. Once I am done with that I call my contact in the CIA and tell him "Find out who did this. If you can't, give me two or three possibilities. Someone will suffer for this."

Shura and I were listening to a speaker in Edinburgh when we learned there was some explosion near the hotel where the talks were taking place. There had been shuttles running all day from Edinburgh to Gleneagles.
I have no idea the size of the bombing but am angry about it.
"They usually blame anarchists for this sort of thing. How upsetting." I say, not realizing the full extent of what happened.

Vance was at a meeting in Glasglow when he recieves new that President Hayward has been taken to the hospital for emergency care, though it is expected he may not make it. There was a powerful explosion originating from the marching protestors, perhaps a small nuclear weapon, which killed and injurred thousands of protestors, the police, and people staying at the Gleneagles luxury hotel, most significantly, the eight world leaders gathered there. The vice president ordered General Kolov to stay down any nuclear escalation as this would be unwise and because the source of the explosion and nature of the explosion was yet unknown.

"Right on, thanks!" I reply, like a little kid who just got a new toy.
"Well, I wish you luck..." I say, hoping that the Russians won't know that we're on standby, and give us a new leader while she's gone.

All of our strategic forces are currently at DEFCON-2, and I order them to stay at that level until further notice, and according to all the hotline calls every other nuclear-armed nation is also at a similar alert level. However the patrol aircraft, even the vaunted stealth bombers, remain well out of any suspected airspace until a strike is ordered...

Shortly after the bombing a video made before the attack is released to Al Jezeera.
"O American people, I am speaking to tell you about the ideal way to avoid further terrorism, about war and its causes and results. "Security is an important foundation of human life and free people do not squander their security, contrary to your president's claims that we hate freedom. Let him tell us why we did not attack Sweden for example. "It is known that those who hate freedom do not possess proud souls like those who have given their lives to fight, may God rest their souls. We fought you because we are free and because we want freedom for our nation. When you squander our security we squander yours. "I am surprised by you. Despite entering the year that have passed since 9/11, your president is still deceiving you and hiding the truth from you and therefore the reasons are still there to repeat what happened. And we did. And we will do again.
"God knows it did not cross our minds to attack you but after the situation became unbearable and we witnessed the injustice and tyranny of the American-Israeli alliance against our people in Palestine and Lebanon, I thought about it. And the events that affected me directly were that of 1982 and the events that followed - when America allowed the Israelis to invade Lebanon, helped by the US Sixth Fleet. "In those difficult moments many emotions came over me which are hard to describe, but which produced an overwhelming feeling to reject injustice and a strong determination to punish the unjust."
"And we will continue to punish the unjust until our war against terror is won."
(a slightly altered speech from Osama Bin Laden)

"Well I may have some more work for you if I do leave. I may have you train with the Russian police forces, so you can get a feel for the local situation. I haven't decided just yet."

Antero wakes up momentarily in a hospital bed. He shakes his head, wondering what happened and where he is. He hears a lot of commotion outside and in the hospital. He looks over to the bed next to him and sees a man whose flesh is blackened and peeled. He closes his eyes in disgust, feels sick, and determines to go back to sleep.

"Oh hey, what's shakin?" He asks. They look a little bothered by something.

Hello everyone, this is your captian speaking. I just recieved some news from the summet. Someone has bombed there and there are many deaths perhaps or people getting hurt but I don't the whole story. So, I am going to do a emegency landing Glasgow Airport. Once we are there in Glasgow, you can call your love ones and tell them that you are okay. That will be all.
I was shocked as the captian explains the bombing but became really depressed about it.

I turn to Lemminkainen and explain what's going on. "I have a feeling I may be called away on special assignment soon, so you and the others may have to wait here in Russia for my return."

Seiji enters the plane and looks visibly ill with worry. He is pale and sweaty as well as a little shaken. This is over concern for the people killed in the attacks, but how busy he has been all day and how busy he will be in the upcoming weeks. He is stretched too thin. "I think I will have to report back to America. I am waiting for Kolov to call me." He says evenly and catches his breath. He starts coughing uncontrollably. "You have smoke on your clothes. I can't stand it." He says with a few more coughs.

"I'm not going to give up cigarettes just because you can't take it." I say to him. "We can go outside if it bothers you. If not you can report in, I'm sure our paths will cross again... Brother." I turn back to Lemminkainen. "Well if we're lucky a few Middle Eastern countries will be invaded."
