Nea looked over the figures again. "This cannot be happening!" she yelled out loud. "I swore I had more money then this!" The number stared back at her, and it did not like. $159.62. Sighing she stared at the number for a minute or two longer and then turned back to the computer.
Dear Mlle. How much would it cost to get to Helsinki from Philadelphia and how much is that stepend for? Nea

After a long day of work, I head back to my tiny grey apartment, tired and sore from labor at the factory. I take a shower and check my email. -Nea Airfare would be $800 or so. The stipend would pay for your hostel and airfare. You would have to buy your own food while there. They are willing to pay, since there are few Americans traveling to this meeting. -Salome

((I know. Didn't plan on trying to killing you or nothing, no more so than anyone in a gun fight would.. I'm just going with the flow right now.))
Peter stands up, facing Ian, his weapon leveled on the man. He clicks something on the side of the gun with his thumb, turning on the laser sight, sighting Ian's head. But with Alex right there... good shot or not all bullets had a little stray to them.
This was not a good situation. He had cover, but these seats might not stop a bullet so that wasn't a perfect situation. Fire fights in tight spaces were bad. Ones with hostages were worse. At least the odds were closer to even now. "Put your weapon down and put your hands on your head!" Peter's voice is muffled by the face mask but his words are clear enough.

I spend the day in meetings, then recieve a call from the head of our special commitee against terrorism. He is worried about recent terrorist attacks in Russia and the threat that Russia will once again cut back on democratic freedoms, which seem to be growing ever scarcer in even the historically most democratic nations of the world.
"Yes, I know that terrorism is a global threat. The measure against it must not be used to justify human rights violations... "
He offers some more information on what Russia and America plan to do.
"I grow weary of these nationalist solutions to an international problem. They do little to resolve the problem at hand and in fact make it worse. We need to have a meeting of the general assembly to discuss some international laws protecting democracy from nationalistic anti terrorism policies. And I do hope that this time around the Americans are more cooperative in the talks. This go it alone foreign policy is doing little towards reaching a constructive international solution..."

I read an email from the IAC and see that the socialists are having their own meeting. I wish so much I could attend as an observer. I see no reason why in light of world events we can not work with the socialists more.
I read that the meeting is in Moscow and become depressed that I must work and that I do not have the money to travel there.
"Oh well, c'est la vie..." I smile to myself.
"But life...will not always be this way."

"Inform the appropraite United States officials that I would like to meet with them this week. I would suggest planning a convention to set forth some policies and international laws.." I say to the voice on the other end of the phone.
"And yes, the environmental summit in Vancouver is still a go. I think we should invite some NGOs and maybe even some environmentally minded political parties to attend as observers. There are so many countries in violation of International Environmental laws. The United States itself is in violation of the Montreal, Olso, and Rome protocols on climate change."

((My plan was this:
The military was actually waiting for the socialists to get off, then they can storm in afterwards. I have to go right now, but I will be on between an hour and an hour and a half (6:45-7:00 central time). I could rush this scene, but I would prefer to have things a little smoother.
See you cats tonight.))

"I agree with Mr. Tarnage, raising the security level to Orange is the only sensable thing to do. Our nuclear forces are already at DEFCON 4, it makes sense to raise our conventional and terror threat levels also." I state to the Cabinet.

"You all hate me. Well, I don't blame you. I have no God or country. But...I want to understand. I want to make others understand. Those values are nothing. You can craddle a dead baby, but it doesn't make it alive. It is time for society to let go. Let go of everything." Heikki says to Septimus.

Bassarov and the others fine a hotel not far from the other. They check into their rooms and meet in the lobby once settled in. "It's so hard to find hope when the world is the way it is. Sometimes it seems that revolution is decades away. But, people are unhappy. The greater their suffering, the greater the potential for sweeping changes."

There are some who say that the world is headed towards all out war. That soon, internationalism will fail entirely. That, the UN and human rights are passe.
With all of the suffering in the world and the rate of environmental destruction, the spread of disease, and the proliferation of poverty, maybe secretly I am inclined to agree.
Which is why the role of the United Nations is so vital. We can turn back this madness. We can prevent capitalism from its own ruin. Revolution and war will do little good for this world. If things are to change, they must be changed on a human and spiritual level.
The only revolution I support, is, the revolution of spirit.

"You'll be my maid of honor." I said with a chuckle. I slipped my dress back on and packed up everything I layed out. We walked out of the base as a limo drives up along the side of the entrance.
"Thanks babe." I said as we both get in. We drive down to the Moscow knolls were my mansion is. When we arrived I got out of the cra leaving the shopping bags inside the car.
We both walk inside and go into my upstairs suite. "Thier is no place liek home." I said with a smile as I lfell backward on my swan feathered bed. I let out a sigh of relief.

"I absolutely love your place! You have the best taste."
I sit on the bed with her and pull of her shoes.
"Let me paint your toe nails. What color do you think will look best?"

Sakari, who hadn't been saying much until this time since he had been more distraught about the IRA than he led on, finally begins to speak.
"Yes, it's most unfornate that it has to be that way... That the child has to put a fork in a light fixture before he learns that it electrocutes you."

My name is Espiranza Menchu. This is my village. We live here in the mountains, in a two room shack. My brothers, sisters and I all share the same room. We sleep together on the floor. We have a pet dog which watches over us, since sometimes at night government officials come and take people away. Many of the peasants are activists and they don't like that.
The government was put in place after a revolution many years ago. It is said that Americans helped the government come to power. We have not had elections since then.
My mother and father sleep in the other room, which is also the kitchen. We don't have running water or electricity in our home. I did not see a television until I was 14 years old and went to work for the plantation owner as a maid. I liked to watch soap operas when they weren't in the room.
