"It is a pleasure to meet all of you." I reply cooly. I shake their hands with my long, cold, slender fingers. I have poor circulation and my hands are always cold. I smile for a moment once again in a fake manner. I turn to Toivo.
"How has the meeting gone so far, Toivo?"

"That would be awesome." Sakari says, and skates a little faster to make his way in front of Cambridge. He turns around, and is now skating backwards, facing Cambridge.
"Hey, this song totally reminds me o-" My ass hits something hard, and my world spins upside down, and I somehow land hard on my stomach. I look up, and I am outside of the rink, having flipped over the wooden median that divides the roller rink from the rest of the room. Laughter ensues.
Sakari lifts himself up, and leans against the wooden barrier.
"...reminds me of when I would go roller blading. Cambridge?" I notice that sie has gone around the corner, and is making another lap around. I wait for her to return to finish my story, as though I didn't just make an ass of myself.

"Great, great, things are going great." I reply. Since I'm so much younger than her, I have an inferiority complex whenever the both of us are around others.
"You just missed my report about Finland. I'm impressed with this turnout, aren't you?" I say, looking over the auditorium.

"It is impressive. And it is unfortunate that I missed your speech. I always thought you were a wonderful speaker, Toivo." I give him a thin smile, closing my eyes slowly then fixing them on him.
"How much longer are the meetings today? Will there be a break soon? I am dreadfully tired after my flight from Helsinki."

Cambridge watches Sakari take a tumble and soon realizes that as fun loving as he is, sie is not having a fun time. This is all a distraction and sie is no longer feeling distracted. Sie wants to do something more serious. Roller skating is not for hir. Maybe it was when sie was 12, but sie is an adult now. An adult worried about the many problems in the world.
"I have to finish an article for the Left Turn. You have fun skating, I am going to get to work."
Sie skates away and takes a seat by hirself. Sie unpacks hir laptop and begins typing away to the tune of 80s songs and wheels on linoleum.

"Shit." I say to the others, lowering my rifle. "I see them. They went into an apartment building."
A feeling of apprehension wells up inside of me, since I know what happens next. The others look at each other, and send the report back to the CO, giving the coordinates of the apartment building. Ivan looks at me with eyes filled with an almost lustful hatred, and says "An eye for an eye, eh Mischa?"
I start to feel like I don't belong here. Something is wrong, but all I can do is follow orders. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and await what the CO has to say. Volya returns after relaying the message.
"They're going to push. With the T-90."
My heart stops. A loud roar begins to echo through the streets. I run to the edge of the building and look over, a T-90 Main Battle Tank, followed by a small compliment of soldiers. They stop at the intersection, and aim up at the apartment building. The infantry moves in, and the tank echoes from a loudspeaker.
"WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED. SURRENDER, OR WE WILL FIRE."

I smoke my last cigarette before heading back to my dorm and taking a quick shower. I want to spend some time with someone, but as usual everyone else is preoccupied...

as the russians near the building, septimus's men instinctually begin to fire at them, pointing out exactly where they are. septimus aims out the window and begins to fire as well, watching the soldiers drop and scatter.

Finally I get an update to my orders. I get a taxi to a nearby airfield, where I board a Mi-24 'Hind' helicopter. Once aboard we fly at top speed to the Chechnian border, where we land near the edge of a battle. I dismount and walk towards the Russian infantrymen...

Sakari shrugs and skates around the rink a few more times, before skating over to Cambridge. He sits down beside hir.
"When're you leaving for the anarchist thing?"

"The conference starts next Wednesday, so I will return to England, meet with my party, then travel to Finland Monday. You are from Finland, so it would be helpful if you came along. It will all be in English, but I don't know my way around Helsinki." Cambridge replies.

As the Chechens fire down at the soldiers, the tank lifts its turret, and spews fire at the apartment building, tearing it into pieces, chunks of brick and glass fly off in all directions.
I raise my arm to my face, feeling the heat from the explosion even this far away, and hear another sound. A helicopter. I follow it with my eyes, and see it land behind our line. A woman exits and approaches the CO.
"What is your business here?" The CO says to the woman in a cold, almost annoyed tone of voice, in Russian.

I salute the officer and reply in his own language. "Rei Usagi, Major, United States Air Force. I have been sent here to observe and aid if nessasary in preperation for cooperative operations in the near future. Your orders should be coming through in a few minutes, sir." I stand at attention, my trench coat flapping about me in the breeze.

"Yeah, there's a break after this speaker, but we were going to join the picket line of striking grocery store workers. If you want to, we could grab coffee before the picket." I reply.
