"Oh relax, I don't actually drink blood, Heikki. It tastes yucky anyway," Judy says, leaning back in her chair.
Punch sips his juice silently, before signing something to Heikki.
Punch stares intently at Heikki, as Judy gives the interpretation.
"But why are you shy? People are shy because of morals which are taught to them as truths. People are afraid of each other, and of themselves, because they were taught to be, because we are all supposedly so dirty. Nihilism rejects these supposed truths for what they are: methods of control. I know that some nihilists try to reject the world, and live the lives of almost monks. I disagree with that approach. Nihilism is about rejecting truth, and what better way to reject truth than to reject morality? We act in our own service, as individuals, and our actions are not good or evil, since both are myths, and methods of control."
Punch stops signing, and Judy stops speaking, abrubtly.
Punch and Judy both finish their juice. Judy changes the subject.
"Mr. Heikki, have you ever seen a Punch and Judy show? Not one of ours, of course, but out namesakes. They have been common seaside entertainment for British children since the Middle Ages."

"I don't think that people are naturally "shy" but maybe there is a natural variance in how social people are. And I do believe that social phobias and anxieties would still persist in society even without values or expectations. I assume, it would just occur at a lower rate since the environmental or social factors which produce or reinforce such behaviors would be eliminated or reduced." Heikki says thoughtfully.
"I shouldn't be ...shy...you are right, and I am not sure if it stems from learned behaviors or if it is because of some chemical process in my brain...or maybe a interaction between the two. I do critically support the truth in some scientific evidence in psychology." He states and ends that direction of the coversation in determined silence. He pauses for a moment to think.
"No, I haven't seen a Punch or Judy show."

Antero gets up and rubs his eyes. He looks out the window and sees that the streets are now empty, but people are working to repair the damage that was done to the city because of the vandalism. "You know, I think I want to go out there and help repair the city. Want to help?" He asks Nea after he changes clothes and brushes his teeth.

It is another hot day and Ilmari's mother and aunt demand that he take them to the beach, but not any beach will do. They want to leave the city and go to a lake resort 30km out of Helsinki. Ilmari complies, and packs a cooler full of sandwhiches, chips, and soda. He also packs extra towels, sun lotion, sun glasses, and bug repellant. It takes about a half an hour to pack the car, and when he is done, he gets behind the wheel and waits for his aunt and mother to climb inside.
The car is a small, environmentally friendly car from Sweden. It is green coloured and once belonged to Ilmari's father. It is compact, and although comfortable for Ilmari, uncomfortable for his girthful mother and aunt.
He keeps the AC on full blast, even though he is frozen to the point that his fingers and toes are numb. Thankfully the drive isn't too terribly far.
They arrive at the resort, which has a beach for the public. They get out of the car, and his mother and aunt leave to go swimming, but not before eating a few of the sandwhiches he packed. They are upset that he made peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches rather than egg salad.
He reasons that egg salad would not have kept well in the heat. This does little to appease them, but, since nothing can be done to change the sandwhich selection, they eat the peanut butter and jelly and go off for a dip.

Things are finally settling down some in the United States. The ruins of the section of New York that was destroyed are being cleared out, and most all of the bodies were recovered. The new president issued a statement of grief to England over the death of their queen. Later this week, Vance will pay a visit to Japan so he can meet with the new council which has assumed power there. Germany and Israel are still at war, but the United States remains neutral. The expanded war on terror is going well and eases the conscience of most terrorism fearing Americans.
The South American flu has not yet appeared in the United States, but as a precaution, the elderly and children have been given free vaccines in all local clinics. This is costly, but the CDC and the Department of Health concluded it would be less costly than a flu epidemic.
Events in France have caused alarm in the United States, but since most Americans don't care about France and feel that France is a state that supports terrorism, none are overly concerned about the revolution, and write it off as typical protest because "French people don't like to work." Vance figures that the people will call for elections in the new few weeks and order will be restored.
As for Australia, no one seems to notice their reforms anymore in light of all of the terrorism and threat of terrorism. Vance recieved several reports on Australia over the past few days but they are still sitting on his desk, unread, and untouched. He has more important things to worry about.
He takes several tylenol and rubs his temple after looking at reports about France, Germany, England, Russia, and other hot spots for terrorism and social change.
"I need a vacation."

Because many of the schools in Grozny have been destroyed, there are now makeshift tents near some of the ruins of schools. Many of these make shift educational centers are maintained by foreign relief workers of various countries and organizations. The capital is in ruins, hardly a building remains untouched by bombs. Those children who do attend the schools often times live in abandoned factories and sheds because their homes and apartments have been bombed and their families displaced. And despite the ceasefire called earlier this month, Russian soldiers remain and killing continues. There has been no dialogue with Moscow and nothing has changed, despite their willingness to talk. Only 2 weeks remain in the unilateral ceasefire the rebels called with the hope that maybe some agreement could be reached, and everything is the same. It is frustrating.

Malik has remained in Damascus, and has been isolated from the others. After the bombing at the G-8 and in New York, the city has been attacked relentlessly by bombs meant for buildings thought to be terrorist hideouts, but often times community centers, schools, and stores. The DFLP has not carried out any terrorism a month now and for the most part, it has been trying to keep a low profile. Malik, who was captured once already by the Israelis a few months ago is terrified of capture, and rarely leaves his home as a result.

Post by Bonifaz Rommel-Artz on Jul 12, 2005 17:06:31 GMT -5
Bonifaz is mildly amused that Rommel spends the day meeting with French officials who fled the political upheaval there. He crosses his arms and waits outside Rommel's office, listening in on the coversation with the French leaders. They will be staying in Germany for a couple of weeks, and Rommel agreed to look after their safety while they are there. "How nice." Bonifaz says aloud, mockingly. He thinks about Eva, whom he finds annoying and whiny. "Look at me everyone, I'm crazy. Did anyone tell you that I'm crazy? Don't tell anyone, I don't want them to take me away.." He says in a girlish voice. "What a joke. What a pathetic joke."
"As if she is the only crazy person in the world. Ohh, she's soo special." He says rubbing his chin. "Maybe I should give her a reason to really suffer."

Seiji submits a full report on the events in France to the office of General Kolov. He is glad that he has been given some autonmy lately and hopes that if he continues to work hard and submit reports of his work, Kolov will continue to let him stay in Europe.
As though nothing happened at all with Helvi, Seiji arrives at the home of the anarchists and knocks on the door. They always leave the door unlocked, so he enters even when no one comes to the door.
He wipes his feet on the mat and looks around the room to see if anyone is around.
"Hello, well, I'm back." He announces as he stands in the center of the living room.

When Brandon gets up, he decides that he is going to check up on Linnea's mural. He would like to see her work so far, and hopes she doesn't mind company while she is working on it. He heads to the office of Patria in Helsinki and spots the mural right away as it is in the center wall of the lobby area. He looks at it and notices that it is full of destruction and death. He wonders why she was commissioned to paint such a violent scene.

Post by Kaschei Bessmertny on Jul 12, 2005 17:37:59 GMT -5
Kaschei and Septimus have a long talk. Kaschei thanks Septimus for providing information about a rival mafia group and explains a little about himself and Solntsevskaya. He explains who Septimus will be working with and what is expected of him. The most interesting information that Septimus has to offer is about Avdotya, a jewel thief who has ties to Solntsevskaya. He pumps Septimus for questions on what she looked like when he last saw her, where she was, what she was doing, and so on. Kaschei is positively obsessed with either killing her or forcing her back into Solntsevskaya under the threat of violence.
After they had finished their conversation, Kaschei dismissed Septimus to one of his guards, who would show him where he will be staying.

Keitoleinen checks up on things in Congo and is disappointed that Vammatar hasn't accomplished anything there yet. "My God, what is she doing there? Taking a vacation?" He asks himself in disgust. He grimaces, and returns to his work. He decides that he will check up on the mural later, but is angry that Linnea is so indifferent towards him. "I have really gone out of my way to be nice. I wonder why she treats me with such prejudice."

The day at the beach was no day at the beach, and by the time Ilmari arrives home he is exhausted. At least his mother and aunt are as well, having spent the day out in the sun, swimming around. They go right to their rooms, and Ilmari is left alone to reflect on his day.
He decides that he will call Selja, since she is his only friend and he feels a little lonely and burnt out having to take care of his mother and aunt all of the time.
He calls her home in London and waits for her to pick up...

Since it is such a miserably hot day, Bassarov and company spend most of the day by the lake. Bassarov is tired from the past few days of tests and it will be a couple of days before he gets his final scores for them. But, at least it is over, and he can enjoy his time back home. "It's really peaceful here. I am glad that we came back. I guess I didn't realize how much I missed it." He says to the others.
