Bassarov doesn't really know how to react without seeming uncaring. Right now he is devoted to his politics and not really interested in any sort of official relationship with anyone. "I'm sorry. Well you can come along with me where I travel. I don't mind having you around. I don't know if I can be what you want me to be, but I can do what I can."

"I just want you to be you... Maybe sometime we can settle down, but I never said you had to do it today. I'd love to travel the world with you, it'll be fun."

"Well sure. It will be fun. I would rather not think of the future. It is too uncertain."

"Yeah, who knows what the world will be like in 50 years?" I ask rhetorically. "I can forgive your faults if you can forgive mine, after all nobody's perfect."

"Well sure. I am pretty accepting of people generally. And I don't really think you have any faults."

"I don't know..." I say but don't elaborate. I don't really want him to know that I smoke, even if I only do it once or twice a week. Or that I had been attracted to that rather eccentric Cambridge girl... "At least I'm done with college now if I want to be... Though pass or not my dad will be pissed when he finds out."

"Your parents aren't going to be too keen on you spending time with a bunch of socialists." Bassarov replies.

"Yeah, or sleeping with one for that matter... I guess I can just leave that part out. I don't know, something makes me think even my dad wouldn't mind that much."

After golf team practice, Grey's mother called him and said that she is speaking at a base on the war in Syria. He is told to wait for her at home, but when she doesn't call, he starts to worry.
"Gosh, I just don't know what I'll do. Dinner is getting cold and she isn't home yet. I made her favorite too. Stir fry. If she isn't home soon I'm going to miss band practice."

After laying around for two hours, smoking ten cigarettes and going through a pound of hamburgers I decide that it's probaly a good idea to report back to base. I walk in, taking my time as I am not on duty, and decide to walk around the base for awhile just for something to do...

Bassarov still feels a little odd about things. "Well it is getting late. We should head back. Do you have a place to stay here?" He asks, hoping that she does and that it is better than where Sakari and him are staying.

"She said she would be here at 6pm sharp and its already 7. I should go and see what's taking her. With all these terrorists I worry about her. Besides, I've never been to a base before. It will be neat. I wonder if they will let me inside?" He asks himself as he puts on his cardigan sweater. It is a little nippy out. Before he leaves, he puts the dinner he made in neat tupperware bowls.
He then drives to the base and waits at the security check point..

"No but I got some money. I can get a room if you don't want me to sleep next to you tonight... I'll understand if you don't." I say very awkwardly.

"It isn't that, but, well, the party is poor. We were only given so much as a travel stippend so we are staying in a hostel which is seperated by gender. It is not terrible, I really don't mind it at all since I get to meet many interesting people."

"Oh okay. Well that's fine then, I can get a cut-rate hotel room nearby. I'll be fine." I say. I used to camp in the Finnish wilderness some years ago, so I can live without amenities.
