Mandela paused for a moment, thinking. Finally, he cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Kasai," he said, "if Zaire needs financial aid then South Africa will gladly help. How much money do you need?"

The driver takes Sakari to a Moscow suburb. Neither Ivan nor the driver say a word to Sakari as they pull up to a large office building which is the adminstative center for various banks and hotels in Moscow. Ivan leads Sakari inside. Depsite the grey outside, the inside is dark and the lobby is lavish. It is a strange atmosphere. It is hard to determine what exacltly goes on here, but it appears that it is simply a building which houses the offices of various Moscow business owners. He is lead past various offices to an elevator, and taken to the top floor. Ivan walks ahead of him, towards some large doors at the end of the hall. He pushes the doors open with caution and enters the office.
"I've brought him to you, sir."

"More than what you can give without burdoning your economy." Kassai replies frankly.
"But maybe you can help with a small project. Like building hospitals in Kinshasa."

"Hey what's up?" Sakari asks, trying to sound aloof. Despite the gravity of the situation, he's calm and collected. "You wanted to see me?"

"We will gladly donate hospitals," Mandela said with a smile. "And I know it won't completely erase your problems, but I am going to help you. We'll give as much as we can without hurting the economy. Last year we were under our estimated budget. I can give you the overbudget money and about $50,000. That should help some."

"Ivan, you are dismissed." Kaschei says firmly. He turns to Sakari and stares for a moment at the youthful socialist. Kaschei turns to his guards, who take the signal and walk to the large wooden doors and lock them. They are now standing on each corner of the room, the large locked door behind Sakari, and a large mahogony desk seperating Sakari from Kashei.
"First.... the package from our friends in Afganistan." Kaschei orders Sakari.
"On the desk. Open it."

"That would mean a lot to me and the people of Congo. I only wish there was a way for me to repay your kindness. I don't know what Congo can do for you or for South Africa."

"Sure." Sakari says, nodding. He carefully unzips the bag, and dumps the contents out onto the man's desk, careful not to spill anything.
After I'm done, I crumple up the bag, and slightly toss it back and forth between my hands. I look around, trying to find some window to jump out of, or a door that isn't locked, or some form of escape that doesn't mean falling to my death. No options are available. I keep the 'death by falling' option in my head, since I've heard that as soon as you hit the pavement, it's over.
Probably a better way to go out than anything they'd have in store.

"Knowing that we've helped our brethren in Zaire will be enough payment," Mandela said with that warm smile, giving Kasai a friendly, reassuring pat on the shoulder. "I'll send the money as soon as I get back to Sou--no, wait. I can do it right now."
Mandela pulled out a PDA and put on a pair of reading glasses. He looked at Kasai. "My secretary got this for me a few weeks ago. Very handy, but somewhat complicated to use," he said, furrowing his brow as he used the little stick/pen to go to the financial budget of South Africa.

Kaschei looks it all over carefully. He turns to the guards, one of whom moves to Sakari and frisks him for weapons or for stolen drugs. While one guard is searching Sakari, the other actually counts what's there.
"It's all here." The guard says to Kashei. Kaschei nods and the guards step back to their posts on each side of the room.
"It seems Ivan made a mistake. He will pay for that as we speak." Kaschei says staring out at the heavy doors as if he can see what is going on behind them, and what happened to Ivan after he was dismissed.
"As you may have guessed, this isn't the kind of business operation we let outsiders in on."
Kaschei taps his fingers on the desk.

"That is really great of you. As for the PDA I have never used one. I am not very good with technology. I have trouble using my personal computer and going on the internet."

Sakari has a perplexed look on his face. He knows exactly what this guy is getting at, but doesn't want him to know that he knows.
"What do you mean? I mean, I've known Ivan for three years, you don't have anything to worry about with me." I say, blinking a few times.

"I know what you mean. Shaqued keeps telling me that it is easy to use these, but I have not been able to do so," he said, squinting his eyes even though he was wearing his reading glasses.
It took a few minutes, but eventually Mandela got it right and the money was transferred to Zaire's national funds.
"There, all done," he said with a smile. "The money is now waiting to be put into your budget, Kasai."

"Three years is a long time. This isn't your first job for him then. What else have you done?" Kaschei asks. His tone is serious, but borders on annoyed. The guards remain silent and waiting for direction.
