"I am sorry about the prison thing, Alejos, but I am glad that you are out. I was pretty worried. And I am sure things with Soledad will work out too." Bassarov says, changing the topic.

"Thanks, I like looking like a boy." I reply, and smile.
"It is hard. I pretty much just look like a girl in boy's clothes, but I try my best."

"I sure hope so," Alejos said with a sigh. "Without her, it's not gonna be the same."

"So you really like her then?" Bassarov asks. He hopes he isn't prying, but he figures that there is no harm in asking.

Alejos nods, with another sad and depressing sigh. "Yeah... she's one in a gugoplex..."

"Well you could've fooled me." I say. "I dress like this because I find it comfortable. I don't know who makes these rules about what's right to wear and what's not, but it's stupid. Mind you I don't think I'd find a man in a skirt attractive, but I try to be asexual." I explain.

"Things will work out. At least she got out of prison. That's a positive thing." Bassarov says, trying to remain cheerful about things. "I know, there just aren't many socialist women around. I like Masha, but she is hardly around anymore. It is hard to find someone to share your politics with." Bassarov says with a sigh.

"I don't know, I think guys look pretty good in dresses and makeup." I say, thinking of the time when Sakari put on a dress and makeup. I smile to myself. "But yeah, I try to look androgynous too. I just don't like being a woman. I would rather be an "it" or sometimes I wish I was a man. But I never want to be a woman. It sucks."

"Oh I know what you mean... Sometimes I hate being female too, usually for just a couple of days a month, but sometimes longer... I mean there's some nice things about it... But it can get so annoying..." My own reasons are more because of such issues interfering with my work than anything, as I have almost no social life, or at least not until recently.

"I know what you mean," he says. "What happened to Masha, anyway?"

"I can't even relate to other women. I feel like they are in their own world, speaking and behaving in a way that I just don't understand. I usually hang out with guys. I don't exactly fit in with them, but they are easier to understand I guess."

"I'm not sure. I think she is around here. Maybe she met up with some ISO members or a church group." Bassarov says with a shrug. The two start walking back to Bassarov's hotel, even though Alejos is staying with Cheech and Tommy.

I nod as I light a cigarette. "Men do seem to be more open about things in general, but none of it makes sense to me. I am female and that will never change, but I am not a woman." I state.

"Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way." I reply.
"So what's your story. What do you do?"

I sigh, deciding to just tell her since she or whatever she referrs to herself as seems more similar to me than anyone else I;ve met so far. "I work for the United States Air Force, special operations. I do enjoy my work, it lets me travel a lot." I explain.
