...when I know you're not around...

"Later." Zivon says, even though he was cut off. He looks at his phone, then puts it back into his pocket, and heads back into the room. There are two people talking in the back.
"Hey, you two." I say loud enough for the room next door to hear, and glare at them both. "Don't make me paddle you like I know your parents do." They shut up.
Zivon sits down at the teacher's desk and looks through the drawers. There's a mini bible in each one. He decides to take one, and reads it to himself as the class sits and reads.

Since I am not confined to my room and to my house, watched at all times by my mother or another member of the family, I write again to Alejos.
Dear Alejos, How are things going in Brazil? One of these nights I am going to sneak out of the house, but for now, I am trapped. I will just have to wait. I miss talking to you and am sorry that all of this had to happen. Take care and I'll see you as soon as I can, Soledad

I have been busy all week reporting on the car bombings here in Syria. It is a little nerve racking and I worry for my safety at times. I decide to call Mischa, but when I can not get through, I leave a message:
This is Aisha, I was just calling to see how you were. I hope you are doing well. Sorry I missed you. Take care, kid.
I can't believe I called him "kid." I don't dwell on it and get back to work.

Alejos is checking his mail when he recieves a letter from Soledad. His heart skips a beat, and he gets a lovestruck look on his face. He opens it quickly and reads it. He sighs and begins writing his own response.
"Soledad,
Not a day goes by when I don't think of you. Things in Brazil are going well. The Brazillian Central Committee of the 4th International approved my suggestions and changes, so now things are running more efficiently. People are starting to notice me for more than just my rants now.
I'm sorry to hear you are confined to that room of yours. Maybe some day I'll come and wisk you away. I'll be your knight in shining armor any time you want.
Do you have YIM? My SN is socialist_freak_boy. If you have it, I'd love to chat with you.
Yours truly, Alejos."
On the paper was a drawing Alejos did of himself. He drew himself taller than he really was, standing by Soledad, giving the peace sign. Both looked very happy.

I work for a few weeks in Guatamala City saving a little money. It is time for me to head back to my village, but, when I return I find that the village has been raided. The government does this when they are looking for rebels. I go back to my home, but my parents and brothers and sisters are gone.
What do I do now?
I start to cry. I sit outside what was our house and cry my eyes out.
I shouldn't have left them.

After my parents have gone to bed for the night, I turn out my lights and take the phone under my covers. I have not yet recieved Alejos' letter, since it wouldn't have arrived yet, but I am going crazy in my room and need to call someone. I call a number which I think is the number to Cheech and Tommy's. Someone answers at the house.
Is Alejos there? I think it was Cheech who answered.
He goes out looking to see if Alejos is around.

Alejos rips the phone out of Cheech's hand once he hears who it is.
"Soledad? Is it really you?"

Yes, I have to talk quietly though since my parents are sleeping. How have you been?I whisper into the phone.

"I've been doing well. My name is getting known a bit more now that my suggestions have been passed by the Brazillian Central Committee. How are you? I got your letter."

I am good, but I feel like I am in prison. My parents are watching me closely so I don't run away again. But I will try to leave when my dad goes on his next business trip. They can't keep me here forever.
Did you finish giving arms to the workers?

Post by Alejos H. Coy IV on May 19, 2005 23:36:06 GMT -5
"Yes and no. The workers are going to be armed from now on, but it wasn't by simply arming them. The Defense Committee has been established down here, and that's why they are going to be armed now."

"Good, so the next time they strike the police and government better watch themselves." I say, and make a fist.
"Have you been up to anything else?"

"Well, we think Tom might be an enemy spy, but we're not sure yet. I for one thing that he is guilty! I've got my eye on him... how about you?"

Maybe he is. He does act a little different. He keeps to himself a lot. And he hasn't got arrested once...unlike us.
I don't know him, so I guess I can't say one way or the other.
