"I'm fine, and those smugglers haven't shown up yet." I state. "So who's your friend?"

"This is Raul. He is part of the Cuban delegation which is visiting the country and who will be present at the speech this weekened." Bassarov explains.

"Oh okay." I state, and look the Cuban over. There is nothing distincitve about him, so I pay him no further mind. "Honestly I don't know a whole lot about Cuba, other than the fact that it makes rum and very good cigars."

Our main concern at the moment is certain corportations which are acting out of bounds of the law and botching up our foreign policy. I am on a special parliament commitee which works to resolve this problem.
As such, I am sent to the corporate office of Patria in London to discuss things with business leaders there. I miss all of my friends. I miss Genki, Lemminkainen, Zex, Calithin, all of the people that I left behind. But, I can not dwell on that. I have important work to do.
I wait outside the office of Mr. Crest, whom I was told would meet with me today.

"My party treats Cuba differently than Russia or China, which we called deformed workers states. We see hope in Cuba and call it a workers state which has not yet established a democracy. I suppose the distinction is subtle to non socialists." Bassarov replies. "I know some about politics, but not as much as I wish. I would like to travel to Cuba and see what it's really like."
He turns to Raul. "But apparently relations between Venezuela and Cuba are very positive. This has caused some concern in the United States."

Linnea looked at Garret, this was one of the few times she couldn't bring herself to smile "I dunno. I would be leaving a lot here, and my gallery..."

"Well I can speak for my general at least, in that the American concern is not one of politics but one of proximity. We don't see a problem with countries freely electing a socialist government, we simply don't want socialist states invading states that remain democratic." I say, then light a cigarette.

"I have never heard anything mentioned of Venezuela invading other countries. For one, who would they invade? Columbia or Brazil? I don't think that is very reasonable." Bassarov replies.

"I understand. And it would be too dangerous to be going to South America and stuff." Garret replies. He just doesn't know what to do at all. "I would miss you if I left, but I just don't have much to do here in Helsinki."

"I'm sure you've seen Red Dawn, that's what we're afraid of. I agree the likelihood of such a thing is slim, since you all agree that a people who don't want a socialist state would create an unhealthy one if they were forced to convert."

"But how would they know what a government is going to do? Venezuela is just a peaceful democratic socialist country. They haven't talked of expanding. How would the government know if they have diabolical plans or not? Making an assumption could cost the freedom and stability of an otherwise healthy country." Bassarov replies with a puzzled look on his face.

"Which is precicely why the Joint Chiefs have adopted a reactionary defense policy rather than a proactive one. The United States will not start a war, though we will finish one..." I say firmly, but not as a threat. "I'm not a politician, I'm a soldier. I do what I'm told. I'm simply stating the beliefs of my superiors."

"Well then, so long as Venezuela remains peaceful there is nothing to worry about." Bassarov concludes. He doesn't trust the American government or Zero, but it is better just to let the argument drop. He casts a suspicious glance at Zero, but then turns to Raul.
"I should probably check on Selja. I did leave her alone so I could talk to Raul."

Linnea thought a moment, she really didn't want to leave but she didn't want Garret to leave, she enjoyed being around him. "Well when were you planning on leaving?" Linnea sighed, she wanted a little time to at least think about it.
