*The two fall asleep together.*
.:Later:.
*Nikolai wakes up and gets out of bed gentily shaking Bastet to wake her up. He went to take a shower before grabbing his mask to put it on. It makes him comfortable to keep it on.*
Nikolai:"How did you like last night Bastet?"

"Mr.Dank, let me ask you a question... What would you do if your little revolution succeeded but ended up failing miserably in the long run? I imagine that you would have quite a bit of egg on your face if after all of your pro-revolutionary preaching the same thing that has happened again and again throughout history occurred and it all fell apart and became some ghastly dictatorship."
I say deciding to join in the conversation.
"Would it not then be better to go about things carefully and instead opt for reforms to the system? I suppose Capitalism would go on for a bit longer that way... But is it not worth it if you could ensure a truly peaceful society free from the confines of poverty and wage slavery that the poor unfortunate workers so rightly deserve?"
"Are you and your comrades really so arrogant that you would be willing to risk that freedom, the freedom of those people who have been under the hand of the upper classes so long just because you are unwilling to be a little patient? How can you even call yourself a Socialist with that attitude?"
"That is the attitude of a Capitalist, willing to risk the lives and rights of all others in order to accomplish something. The ends do not justify the means when it comes to people's lives Mr.Dank, they simply do not."

"I see. But, you really should do things fior yourself. I mean, yah."
I want to say to her, just be glad you actualy had the freedom.
"Your quite a loyal chick, Maria, a very admirable quality. Most girls would have bailed out on Kaschei by now, but you didn't. Takes quite a woman to stand by her man."

Maria smiles.
"Thanks Zhar... I do love him, and even if I wanted to leave, i couldn't anyways... Kaschei's not just... Someone you can leave..." She says with no hint of sadness, just as a matter of fact.
"What about you, Zhar? Maybe you should find someone to settle down with, or come home to."

I am a little surprised that Calithin joined in the conversation. I cross my arms behind my back and wait for Cornelius to respond.
There is a light breeze today and the sky is overcast. This is one of the less warm and pleasant days since my arrival in Venezuela.
I think about Lysander and wonder what he is up to.

"I would, but I haven't really found anyone yet. And, im not really one to stay put. Im like a bird, but one that you cant cage. Plus, I doubt Kaschei would allow it; I owe him a lot you know, and I can't just up and leave without his permission."
I would if I could though.

"I would like some time tp spend alone with Thad." I say to Carmichael as we enter the complex. I haven't seen my son in so long, I just want to be alone with him a little while.
"Could you take me to his room and let us alone for the afternoon?" I request.

"Certainly, this way Hannah."
I walk her up to my door and through the house, to Thad's room. As I open the door, he is there, doing homework. He looks up, and sees his mother. Smiling, he runs to the door and hugs his mother, giggling and telling her how much he loves her and how glad he is to see her.
I smile and turn around, start to walk away
"Have fun you two."
I tear streams down my face, which I quickly wipe away. It makes me very glad to see him this happy.

It is great to have time alone with Thad. He tells me about school and about a science project he is working on. But even as smart as he is for his age, he still likes to play with play doh and do art projects.
I mold playdoh with him for a while, then do some paintings on large sheets of shiny white paper.
"When I was a kid, my mother would make home made playdoh. It was just regular dough, but salty. She would add food colouring and even a little flavouring extract to give it fragrance." I explain to him.
My own mother is in a nursing home right now. She had a major stroke a few years ago.
"Sometimes I wish I could live forever and never get old...or just stop time in a good part of my life and never go past it."

"I understand." Maria says, nodding her head.
"Well maybe someday, Zhar, you deserve someone to make you happy and care for you. Would you like to go out to the pond? The air is getting heavy in here..." Maria stands up and gently puts her hand to her chest.

I return home after dropping all of my applications off around the city. Shura is gone. He always works and works so hard.
I go to the kitchen and make myself some tea.
I sit down and read the paper, listening to old songs on the radio as I sip the tea.
