In Red Infinity, the world is ruled by a world communist government, which has its headquarters in Beijing, with Ministries in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Beijing for the most part. It is a monolithic government of unimaginable power, which is challenged by very few people. The leader of Red Infinity is a man named Lin-Sat, who is anti social, reclusive, and just not very personable. People within Red Infinity fear him, and he himself seems to take very little interest in Red Infinity and those who work for him. He mainly keeps to his office, plotting things in the quietude of his inner sanctum. He is in fact, not a human at all, but host to a demonic being named Kuro, who gains power by absorbing human souls. Red Infinity is just a distraction, and his real goal is to destroy humanity for their souls. Lin Sat is close only with his adviser, Ukko, the Finnish God. Ukko has an agenda as well. Ukko's goal is to someday destroy all of the Gods to create an atheistic universe. He is using Red Infinity as a means to this end, and is very supportive of Red Infinity's anti religious campaigns. He is actually a socialist, and feels that he is doing humanity a favor by liberating them from the Gods and from religion. The last major character living in Beijing is Lady Violet, who is the party's spokeswoman and the face of Red Infinity. She is actually the secretary general of the communist party, but for some reason or another, takes orders from Lin Sat, who has no real position within the party. She is a kind woman, who is adored by the masses and by those working for Red Infinity. She believes that what Red Infinity is doing is right and that they are building socialism. She travels, gives speeches, gives orders, and works day and night keeping Red Infinity together. Because Lin Sat is so reclusive, she has a great deal of authority over Red Infinity, although ultimately she answers to him.
Moscow is Red Infinity's second base of power. It is home of the Ministry of Terror, a fearsome ministry which is known for imprisoning, torturing, and monitoring rebels and rebel activity. Kaschei, an evil Russian sorcerer, is the head of the Ministry of Terror. He is feared and disliked within and outside Red Infinity. He is not a communist, but works for Red Infinity out of his own ambition for power. His specialty is magic which concerns time, which is why we see in Years of Anguish, there is a lot of time travel. Another key member of the Ministry of Terror is Kaieka, who is a torturer for Red Infinity. Another is Kith Keitoleinen, the half dark elf son of the God named Keitoleinen, who is a communist, has some doubts about what Red Infinity is doing. He is infatuated with Lady Violet. Other employees at the Ministry of Terror are Machiavelli, the black dragon and an assistant to Kaschei, and others.
Another major Ministry is located in St. Petersburg. This is the League of the Godless. The League of the Godless is a Ministry that tortures, imprisons, and monitors religious rebels and activity. The goal of the Ministry is to eradicate religion and religious beliefs. The head of the League of the Godless, is Keitoleinen, who is the God of destruction, who works for this ministry, simply because he likes destruction and suffering. He is assisted by others, including a silver dragon named Aristarchus.
Other ministries include, the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Information, and Ministry of Science, though these are not as menacing as the Ministry of Terror and League of the Godless, both of which actively arrest and assassinate rebels.
So, looking at the world, we see that Red Infinity is a very powerful government, which employs dragons, Gods, demons, and all sorts of nasty, powerful things. However, it should also be noted that the majority of people who work for Red Infinity, do so out of self interest and a desire for power, more than for any real belief in Red Infinity's policies. The notable exception is Lady Violet, Kith, and a few others.
The role playing game began in October of 2003 with a few rebels trying to build a rebel movement while trying to escape capture or arrest from Red Infinity. The original rebels were Janele, a fox demon, Patrick a cat demon, Valodya Bassarov a human, Kisa Higarashi a human, Sazumi a fox demon, Riku a former Red Infinity member and half angel/god, Calithin, a half angel, half god, Hope, an android, and a couple others. Bassarov is pretty much the center of the rebel movement from the beginning. Not because he is a great socialist or leader, but more or less because he is still alive, and because of his political knowledge concerning Red Infinity and his involvement int he revolution 50 years ago. The rebels begin by trying to escape Red Infinity and live in peace in Switzerland. They stay at a house there and begin publishing literature against Red Infinity. This causes a stir, and eventually Kith is sent by Red Infinity to put an end to this operation, which he does by destroying the entire city of Lucerne. From this point on, the rebels relocate to Helsinki, which becomes the center of rebellious activity throughout the rpg. It should also be noted that during this time, Bassarov meets Kaieka, a torturer from Red Infinity, who captures him, tortures him, and falls in love with him, deciding to leave Red Infinity, and enter an interesting, albeit emotionally messed up, relationship with him.
The rebels live and work in Helsinki, doing their best to avoid Red Infinity. The rebel movement slowly grows, but, the rebels must always contend with powerful and oftentimes irksome Red Infinity agents, such as Cheshire, a supernatural prankster cat or Surma, God of death. Other movements begin to pop up in the world. Once of which is the LIF. The LIF is a group of fascists who operate independently of Red Infinity, trying to rid the world of supernatural threats. Major members of the LIF are Peter the Owl, and Virgil, but there are many others, each with amazing powers which threaten Red Infinity and rebels alike. During this time, Peter the Owl falls in love with a young Christian woman named Chastity. Rebels like Bassarov, and Hope, and android, are sometimes attacked by the LIF because they are seen as a threat to humanity.
New rebels join the movement, including Usha, a kind Ursarian, Kai, an unfriendly vampire, Ashitaka, a serious warrior, and Brady, a young elven rebel. Because the rebel movement is growing, Red Infinity feels threatened and decides to send a God after the rebels. They send Keitoleinen to crush the rebel movement. Keitoleinen destroys Helsinki, killing thousands of people and leveling buildings in the city. Following this attack, the rebels who survived spend the next few months rebuilding Helsinki. It is shortly after this that a new wave of rebels join the rebellion. One is Mischa Kirsanov, an old friend and lover of Bassarov's who had been missing or thought of as dead. The sudden arrival of Mischa causes the untimely end of Kaieka and Bassarov's relationship, and sends Kaieka back to Red Infinity, but drifts between organizations, trying out even the LIF for a while. The rebel movement starts expanding and becoming more political from this point on. Rather than random bands of apolitical characters, the rebelion becomes large enough where it is able to split off into more political centered groups. It is around this time that we see the Green Party, Feminists, anarchists, capitalists, nationalists and even nihilists split off and form their own rebel movements in Helsinki and elsewhere. So, the rebel movement is at this point quite large. Another addition to the rebel movement, is Zero Amerikanski, who was an assassin for the FRA (a capitalist rebel faction) working for General Kolov. She falls in love with Bassarov, and becomes a leader of the rebel movement. Kolov in joins Red Infinity sometime later, after Red Infinity puts down rebellion in America. Helene also was an addition to the rebel movement during this time period. She is notable in that she is a vampire nymph, and that she has a son with Bassarov named Lysander as the result of being raped by Chornebogk (an evil spirit which resides within Bassarov).
Red Infinity sees that the rebellion is growing. They have sent operatives to destroy the rebels, but each time rebels are crushed, they are coming back stronger. There are also some issues with loyalty with Red Infinity members. All of this causes a lot of stress to Lady Violet, who is having a hard time managing her personal life and Red Infinity. During the past few months she has been involved with numerous men in Red Infinity, including Lin Sat, as well as Set, her dragon body guard. The rebels are attacked on May Day, but once again, they come back stronger. Meanwhile, Kaschei, the head of the Ministry of Terror, decides that it will be a good idea to bring the Goddess Louhi back to life. He does this at a rebel concert, which results in a long battle against Louhi. Louhi takes control of all of Red Infinity's dragons, and defeating her takes some effort. Louhi levels Helsinki as well as destroys the entire rebel movement in America. This pleases Red Infinity, but they conclude that Louhi was much too powerful to be used against the rebels. Luckily she is defeated with some magical artifacts, and order is restored to the world. Her defeat takes a great effort and sets the rebels back for a while.
Things are quiet for a while after Louhi. The rebelion becomes scattered and a little demoralized. During this time, people focus more on their friendships and personal lives, than fighting Red Infinity. There is some tension between Bassarov, Mischa, and Zero, since Zero is a newcomer to that relationship, and Mischa must share his time with her. There is also some drama with kaeika, whom Bassarov still loves. Other relationships include a strange relationship between the anarchists Antero Black, Sasha Kropotkin, and Simona Weil. Also, Red Infinity clones Kaieka, creating a woman named Kassenia, who also becomes involved with Bassarov. Helene marries Deetric, a former negotiator for Red Infinity, and a relationship develops between Garret and Linnea Korpela. Other relationships include Roane and Grove, Peter and Chastity, Fascia and Kakashi, Usha and Brady, John and Kazenara, and others. The rebel movement is slowly rebuilt, but there are tensions between different rebel groups and their vision of how things should be done. This disunity is a handicap to the rebel movement.
Peace does not last long and Red Infinity has some new plots in store for the rebels. They have in their employment, a machine named Zwei, which they want to use for their own ends, but unfortunately goes out of control and takes control of all of the machines in the world. This is a nuisance for both Red Infinity and the rebels, as this Zwei claims to be the machine God. Red Infinity is passive about Zwei and lets the rebels deal with this out of control machine, which has under its command androids and other powerful machines. After a long battle in Germany, the rebels are finally able to defeat Zwei though some strange means...including singing to the machine, offering it Yoohoo chocolate milk, and more magical Finnish artifacts. Zwei is defeated, order is once again restored to the world, and the rebels are once again exhausted from another fight against Red Infinity. Following the battle against Zwei, there is another short period of peace.
After the peacetime, yet another threat emerges. All the while, a being named Satsujin has been wandering around the Earth. Now he makes himself known and challenges the Gods. This is the first time that Red Infinity has truly been threatened by anything. So, the Gods and the dragons leave Earth to fight Satsujin in his voidal world. Void, also helps in this fight. The rebels are not very active in this fight since Satsujin is too powerful. When the Gods fail to defeat Satsujin, he comes to Earth to destroy it. Luckily the rebels are able to defeat Satsujin with a magical comb known as the kampa, thus putting an end to that threat once and for all. But, like those other times, much life was lost and it takes time for the rebels to get back on their feet.
Following the defeat of Satsujin, Red Infinity decides that it has been doing a bad job keeping on top of threats to global security. To remedy this situation, they create a machine that can monitor people's thoughts and world events. The machine is called Little Sister, and is operated by Iris Faust, the daughter of Lady Violet and Erika Faust. Iris is kept at the Ministry of Information in Helsinki, where she is protected by Joukahainen. Freak Boy (a socialist rebel) falls in love with Iris, which causes a lot of problems for the rebels, who are doing their best to avoid Red Infinity for the time being. Red Infinity attempts to kill Freak Boy a couple of times, but to no avail. As a side note, during this time, Mischa has a relationship with Erika, and had a son with her when she was the machine God. Their relationship deepens, despite the fact Erika still works for Red Infinity.
Red Infinity also begins a new wave of purges, in which hundreds of Red Infinity members and rebels are killed. This is done to "clean up" the party and to put down rebellion. For once, it seems like Red Infinity has its act together and everyone is once again living in fear.
This is about where the rpg ended. A lot more happened that what I wrote here, but I think this is a fairly accurate summary of the major events that transpired in that rpg. The rpg ended without a conclusion, although in my mind there is a conclusion to it all, things just never progressed that far.
.....
Added to the above then, and where we pick up in this rpg, Kaschei froze time for about 8 months while he trained. Now, all of the rebels are confused, have memory troubles, and the whole rebel movement against Red Infinity must start from scratch.
