"I think chocotate chip. That is pretty standard. I can't stand peanut butter cookies though. I am not sure why."
"But if you are right, I will someday give you an oatmeal cookie then."

"When Im right, you mean. When. I really don't like penut butter ones either. So..."
Resorting to the topic of favorite cookie really just shows that the conversation is falling.
"So, how long have you been a Trotskyist? Hav eyou always been one, or what changed you?"

"I have only been one for about 2 years, so not long at all. But I am learning quickly and have become an active member of my local party. I think it was just college and life that made me a socialist. The more I learned about the world, the more I saw that conventional reforms were too anemic to make the dramatic changes needed to make this world a better place."

"Yah. Hopefully soon things will start to change for the better. They really can't get much worse, you know? If only Lenin hadn't have died. Or, Trosky had come to power. Or Stalin had been killed. The world would have seen what a wonderfull thing socialism is."

"We don't really know. I think the Russian revolution was sound, and that both Lenin and Trotsky believed in what they did. But the gains of the revolution were crippled by the counter revolution and by the Imperialist powers who attacked Russia because they were threatened by socialism. Had America, France, England, and Germany not united against Russia in WWI during the time of the counter revolution against the Whites, I think things would have been much different. But socialism in Russia was beaten down and warped from the beginning. Stalin and the beauracratization of the party were born out of those conditions."

Volgin asked the driver to pull over he was good for know he knew where Lysander was and he was going to die. He walked a little further to an old run down shack he took some keys out of his pocket put them in the door opened it and dragged his motor cycle out Lysander was going to die he muttered to himself and he was not going to be seen.

"Its wierd to think about how each little event effects the world. If the man that shot the Frans Ferdinand, or whatever his name was, I told you im not too bright about stuff, had decided to get drunk the night before instead, he wouldn't have shot him, and the whole war wouldn't have started. Little stuff like that. Do you realize that if one event hadn't have happened in certain people's lives, nothing on this earth would be the same. Its so freaky!"

"I think World War I would have started even without the assassination. Capitalism sustains itself on war, war is a given in this current system because capitalists need new markets and to take out their competitors. Maybe it would have happened later or under different circumstances...but it would have happened." Bassarov says to Lysander.

"Sure, there would have been a war, but it would have been different. If they hadn't have had to stick to all their stupid secret treaties, the teams wouldnt have been the same. People would have joined a side based on cause, not obligation. The rulers tried to end the war, but they couldn't because of the treaties."

"I won't speculate that it would have been better. It is simply the opinion of the party that both WWI and WWII were inevitable." Bassarov replies.
"But who knows, there are so many factors. I just hope that if ever there is another revolution it will be international and that it will not be warped by counterrevolution."

Volgin drove for what seemed like hours till he got into the city. He dropped the bike off in a shop for repairs and then he set off to find Lysander.

"Me too. Im sure everything will eventually resolve itsself, in this world anyway. Whether it will be few or many years, I can't say. But, its only a matter of time. Or, the earth will be destroyed before that. Which might not really be so bad. Who knows."
I take a sip of my drink
"You're a cool guy, you know that Mr. Bassarov? Im glad I met you; you have an amazing outlook on life.
