Born in Cork, Ireland. Lived there until he entered at University Level studying music for two years. Then moved to London after receiving a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music. Currently plays with the Symphony Orchestras which perform there.
Worked for the Independent Offices whilst in Cork, doing political articles on a weekly basis. Specialised in Foreign Affairs, and was sent twice with delegates to European Union summits. Now writes for The Independent in London.
His family are all still living in Cork, and he is the eldest of two, claiming only a younger brother. The majority of his relatives live in Ireland, but his cousin and good friend (David Buckley) has lived in the greater London area for his whole life, and is now sharing a flat with Mahon in the centre of London. No current Girlfriend or engagement.
Mahon writes many pieces on terrorism and the Americanisation of the world. He sees himself as anti-American, and pro-European. His political view is that the US is corrupt and decaying from within. He sees the US as an infection which is spreading to the European Powers, and Americanisation as a threat to the cultures of Europe. He is driven by the need to constantly remind the public of the corruptness across the ocean.
