"It is easier to desire less than more. I suppose you have no choice, believing in a system where there is no more."
I say flatly.
"So chin up then Mr.Bassarov, if you indeed believe that you have so much you've no reason to look so depressed or complain. Think of those poor workers you show so much affection towards, it all seems better now doesn't it?"
I laugh at the idea of caring for the poor, it seems so alien.

"Of course." Bassarov replies.
"You are English aren't you? The train I was on was highjacked by the IRA." Bassarov does not mention that he may soon be visiting with the IRA to discuss world events and present their politics.

"Yes. I am sure the IRA had a good reason. Your lucky it was just them who hijacked the train Mr.Bassarov. I hear the government is coming after your kind, a lucky one you are that you don't seem like any threat whatsoever yourself."
I take the plastic cup my coffee was in and try to throw it across the room into a trash can like a basket. Rather happy when it goes in.

"I think the tables are turning."
Bassarov looks at the wall clock. "Well, we ought to head back to the meeting everyone."
He leaves with the other socialists to return to the meeting.

Opening a cupboard, Nea turned her head and grinned. "Nope I'm fine. I have to do this all the time by myself anyway, so this is no problem at all."

Public transportation is as interesting as it ever has been as Mrs. Malone sits close to the bus window, trying to ignore the other people in the darkened vehicle. Someone behind her keeps popping their gum and rustling papers and so she focusses on the lights of the city passing slowly by. On the seat beside her is a long clothing bag, draped rather unceremoniously over the back, it holds a long black dress with scarlet highlights. It is the proper attire for singing Italian art songs and arias. Since work, however, Mrs. Malone has changed and now is wearing her usual garments, dark and not too eye catching, certainly not a formal gown.
It was sometimes nice to have to carry so much stuff along with her to and from work, it allowed her a reason to not have anyone sit next to her on the bus ride, which was always nice. She didn't care much for the company of strangers.
At her stop, she gathers her things and quickly exits, finding solace in the cool outside air. A few blocks later, she finds her building and after three flights of stairs, places her key in the familiar hole and enters her apartment.
It is not much of an apartment, but anything in New York costs about two arms and a leg. Mrs. Malone sets down her bags and crosses to the small kitchenette where she pours herself a glass of water.
There is no couch. It is a small studio apartment, there is a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a sleeping area, all of which are very close in proximity. She sits down on the bed, setting her glass on the night table, and picks up a pen and her writing journal.
Tonight at work I saw an atrocious looking man sitting across from a lovely young woman. They were hard to miss, their table was right next to the piano. All through "Oh mio babino caro" he kept on sticking his fingers down the front of her blouse and pulling her toward him. I could see a look of repulsion behind her eyes each time, but she would cover it up with a smile and a laugh and take a sip of her wine or a bite of her chicken marsala. It always amazes me how guys like that can end up with the women that they do.
Her mind begins to wander away from the happenings of the day, and her pen begins to ramble...
I recall the brown freckle in your left eye. It always beckoned to me during conversation. Dare I say that I miss that more than any other part? But how can I tear apart such an amazing whole?
She looks at the page and pen for a long time before finally shutting them together like a large, ink-filled sandwich. Stripping and sliding beneath the covers, prayers are said for many, but for some with more fervancy. The lights are turned out. Mrs. Malone falls asleep after about an hour of intermingled thought and prayer.

Somehow, I managed to roll out of bed this morning. Man, hangovers are a killer. But when I saw a look at myself, I knew I looked like crap. Then I looked at the clock and groaned. I must've broken it. I'll pay for that...
I drag myself into the bathroom and 20 minutes later, I come out halfway feeling better. I wanted to try Russian breakfast but, looking at the time, thats shot to hell. Oh well, lunch is just as good. I pull on some simple clothes, jeans, t-shirt and boots and a thick jacket. With my book in hand, I walk out the door.
Cold air hits my face when I walk out. I should've visited some where warmer first. Good thing the resturant is just down the street. I step inside, sit in a booth in the back of the resturant and wait to be served.

"If you can't get here, just...steal a car or something." Heikki replies into the phone as he walks down the street. He has been thinking about Das Ende a lot lately and wonders how he can meet them.

"Alright sure. I'll see you later then. Here is where I am staying in Moscow..." He gives her his address and clicks off the phone. He continues his walk, contemplating Das Ende and what he should do next.

Evelina wrote down Heikki's adress and walked ito the store, and bought a few bottles of water and a small bag of chips. She stuffed them in a bag and headded back to her place.

Heikki returns to the Chechen he has been staying with in Moscow. He was having a conversation with Septimus before he decided to give Evelina a call. He searches the compound for Septimus so he can continue that conversation.

"Not really. Hey, when we're done with the makeovers we should go to the mall. We can invite your boyfriend so he can carry our shopping bags."
I try on some beige eye shadow, but don't like it.
