"That depends a lot on the situation. Nothing is concrete. You are always too "in the box." There is no absolute. Maybe I would help, maybe I wouldn't." He says with a shrug.
"These questions are boring. Will you grab me a pepsi out of the mini fridge?"

"I don't know. I really don't know. I know there are mercenaies in the country trying to secure the interests of various capitalists there. Socialists are a threat to that, so I am sure that they are looking for dissidents of all sorts." Niilo replies and takes a sip of coffee.

"Sure." I say out of simple politeness, since I am standing and he isn't. I grab two cans, one for him and one for myself. "So how's the asthma?" I ask, trying to change the subject.

Alejos pauses and runs through his options.
"Niilo, how many high grade explosives and quality weaponry do you think you could get me within the next week," Alejos asked, going to Travelocity.com to purchase airline tickets to the congo.

"The same as usual." He replies and doesn't expand on it. He drinks his pepsi and sits down on his stomach. "You seem different." He observes. "Too...much like everyone else."

"I can't get any." He replies. "And even if I could, how would you bring them to Congo with you? They would check your bags at the airport?"

"If you got out and saw the world more often maybe you'd realize that everyone else does have something to offer. My absolute loyalty is still to God, Kolov and Country, and you swore the same oath as I did, so don't even say it." I all but growl, knowing that atheisim comes with apathy. "But maybe I want more from life than to work for the next fifty years and have five kids like I'm required to."

"Point taken. I guess I'll just have to buy some in a neighboring country and smuggle them across the border. Hold on, someone's at the door, I'll talk to you later. I'll be heading to the Congo, and then to Russia. Bye."
Alejos went to answer the door, that is... until he noticed the police cars outside the hotel. At this point, Alejos crammed all his crap in his suitcase and jumped out the second story window. He hoped to high heaven Enrique was home.
(buenos noches, everybody.)

"I am not an atheist." He corrects her. That is the only things of all the things that she said that is worth addressing. The rest is nonsense. He doesn't place faith in transitory things. Nations raise and fall, and patriotism to America will matter no more in 1000 years than pride in the Ottoman Empire. But it isn't worth it to him to argue. "You look at things too much in the short term. But I don't blame you, everyone does."
"You are even more boring when you are upset."

Niilo hangs up the phone and heads home for the evening. He wonders what Akka made for supper. She is the best cook he has ever met, as well as an adoring wife. He locks his office and takes the bus to their apartment. When he arrives home, he kisses her on the cheek and sits down for dinner.

"And what's wrong with looking at the short term as long as you take the long term into account? " I growl, and place a cigarette between my lips and light the lighter, but catch myself before I actually light the cigarette. "And for that matter you are as annoying as ever."

"There are some things in the present which contradict the future and the long view of history. Nationalism is one of them." He replies. "A nation does not last forever and has not been forever. A nation is in the present, one nation of many. So, not only must you take the long view, you must take the wide view."
"Don't be hostile. I am not hostile. I am simply stating a set of ideas. One set of ideas of many sets of ideas. Each of which have no more value than the others."

I simply sigh, since I believe he is full of shit, and I want to light the cigarette so his throat closes up and he can't talk. Instead I put it behind my ear and sit down on a chair. "And so what if we are servents of a foolish society of materialistic assholes? We aren't the judges of the species, we simply protect those that are in our Master's interest to protect..."

But Seiji has already grown bored with his sister and stands up, walking towards the door. "Why don't you introduce me to your colleagues on this anti terrorism force. I am sure that Kolov would appreciate that I have taken such an interest in it."

"He'd appreciate your taking interest in anything." I mutter as we walk out of the room, and as soon as I am out of the room I light my cigarette. "I'm not sure how many of them will be around or awake, but I'll show you anyways."
